Library Policies

Conditions of Membership

When using the Library services members are asked to be respectful and courteous to Library staff and other Library users and to follow the Library User Guidelines. To view the Guidelines click here.

We encourage all members and visitors to our libraries to regard accident prevention and working safely as a collective and individual responsibility.

Your details

If you change your address, name, phone number or email address let us know.

Lost items

If you bring a Library item back damaged or lose a Library item you may be charged a fee. For more information click here.

Members under 18

If you are under 18 years of age, unless living independently, you’ll need someone to sign on as your guarantor. A guarantor is responsible for the suitability of items accessed by a member under 18 and any Library fees they may incur. Click here for more information.

Temporary Membership

In some circumstances, people visiting Bass Coast, Baw Baw, Cardinia and South Gippsland Shires or who are unable to meet the conditions may be granted a temporary membership. Temporary memberships are valid for six months. Temporary members may borrow up to three items at a time.

Live Chat

As Myli – My Community Library is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people, live chat is available to any person requiring assistance from the library. Please be aware we ask qualifying questions to establish your identity before providing details of your library account. We will ensure appropriate security and data handling measures for any information provided to us. For more information see our privacy policy. 

Privacy

The Library is bound by a privacy policy and treats its member’s personal information in a confidential manner. A member will be given a copy of the policy on request and may also view any personal information the library holds about them. For more information see our privacy policy. 

Internet Access Policies

We have an Internet Access Policy, Internet PC Conditions of Use, and Wireless Internet Conditions of Use. To request a copy of these policies please contact us.

Surveillance Camera (CCTV) Policy

Volunteer Policies

Collection Development Policy 

The Collection Development Policy is a dynamic document that outlines collection building principles, strategies and guidelines for the purpose, content, growth, and development of Myli – My Community Library Ltd (Myli) collection. The Collection Development Policy is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains current. This policy is relevant to all Myli branch libraries, staff, and patrons.

Acknowledgment of Country

Myli – My Community Library acknowledges the traditional custodians of the various lands where our services and programs take place. We pay our respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
