Awaiting a Word and Mosaic by Nicholas Green

Nicholas Green is a barrister and poet. His  spouse is the law. His mistress is French language & literature. Since 1963, he has been under the influence of the Bunurong.

MOSAIC

Life is a pretext for the accumulation of memories.

Our first encounter contained the seeds of rupture.

I liked limes; you liked the limelight.

I admired talent; you admired fame.

I was on a foggy highway; you on a neon-lit runway.

Before you, my life was an integer.

After, my existence resembled a mosaic.

Can I help it if I am a prisoner of my memories?
