Looking after your Mental Health | 03 | Managing Emotions | Linda & Alison Fonseca

West Gippsland Libraries have partnered with registered Counselling psychologist Alison Fonseca to provide a mini-series called Looking After Your Mental Health. This 5-part series covers a range of topics and we’ll share a new video each month.

In this video, Alison and Linda will discuss:

Managing emotions around mental health in a small community.
Mental Health emotions for men and how to start the conversation.
What is the difference between a counsellor, therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist?
What questions can you ask during a session?
What might a session look like?
What you might experience during and after a session.

Alison Fonseca has been living and working in Central West Gippsland since the mid-1990s. Alison is a registered Counselling psychologist and a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society. She has 20 years’ experience working in the field of psychological trauma. Her areas of experience include responses to sexual assault, perinatal and infant mental health, and clinical governance within the helping professions. She has worked in community services organisations, tertiary health settings, private practice and for Commonwealth, State, and local government.
