Leongatha Library will be streaming the National Science Week Quiz on Thursday 19 August.

Bring your family, bring your friends!

Tune in to the stream via ACEMS Youtube Channel to watch the fun of the panel National Science Quiz

For those that would like to play along in the Quiz competition to win prizes, they must also click on the competition link (this will be included in the reminder email to registrants on the day)

Hosted by Charlie Pickering, of ABC’s The Weekly, the National Science Quiz brings together six of Australia’s best scientists & science communicators. This online event is interactive, so you can test your scientific knowledge & reasoning and play along for a chance to win cash & prizes.

 

Our panel:

 

Alan Duffy: Astronomer at Swinburne University & Lead Scientist of the Royal Institution of Australia, home of Cosmos Magazine. Alan investigates how galaxies form within clouds of dark matter and tries to explain it, and the rest of science, to as wide an audience as possible.

Alanta Colley: comedian, science communicator and story-teller. With a background in International public health, she has toured nationally with her science comedy debate series ‘Sci Fight’ and is a regular guest on ABC radio.

Catriona Nguyen-Robertson: science communicator and an immunology researcher at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. She sings songs that explain science and is a member of the Science Communications Teaching Team at The University of Melbourne.

Jen Martin: Jen founded and leads the University of Melbourne’s acclaimed Science Communication Teaching Program and is a member of the Homeward Bound Teaching Faculty. Jen has also been talking about science each week on 3RRR radio for 15 years.

Jared Cole: theoretical physicist at RMIT University who specialises in quantum theory and the study of open-quantum systems, particularly when applied to solid-state nanostructures. Jared is also Chief Investigator at both Exciton Science, and FLEET.

Norman Do: Mathematician at Monash University. His research interests lie at the intersection of geometry, topology and combinatorics, with the problems he finds most appealing arising from mathematical physics
